Terms of Use
Last updated: May 2026 — By using Cyberscan you agree to these terms.
1. Service description
Cyberscan provides free, browser-based security utilities including password strength analysis, password generation, email breach checking, URL threat scanning, cryptographic hash generation, and QR code decoding. The service is provided "as is" with no guarantee of availability, accuracy, or fitness for any particular purpose.
2. Acceptable use
You may use Cyberscan for personal, educational, or professional security purposes. You agree not to:
- Submit automated requests or scripts that abuse the service or third-party APIs we rely on
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, exploit, or compromise the underlying infrastructure
- Use the URL Scanner or Email Breach Check to profile, harvest, or aggregate data about third parties without their consent
- Use the service for any purpose that violates applicable laws, including privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA) or computer misuse statutes
- Attempt to bypass rate limits or security controls in the Cloudflare Worker
3. No warranties
Cyberscan tools are provided for informational and assistive purposes. They are not a substitute for professional security assessments. In particular:
- A password rated "strong" may still be compromised if reused, phished, or stored insecurely elsewhere
- A URL rated "clean" by VirusTotal may still be malicious if newly registered or not yet indexed by threat intelligence services
- The absence of your email from breach databases does not mean your data has never been exposed — some breaches are never disclosed publicly
We make no representation that results are complete, current, or error-free. Use the tools as one layer of a defence-in-depth strategy, not as a sole indicator of safety.
4. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Cyberscan and its operators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of or inability to use the service, including but not limited to data loss, account compromise, or reliance on inaccurate results.
5. Third-party services
Cyberscan relies on the following third-party APIs to deliver certain tools. By using those tools, you acknowledge that your submitted data (email addresses and URLs) is processed by these services in addition to our proxy:
- XposedOrNot — for email breach checking
- VirusTotal (Google LLC) — for URL threat analysis
- GoQR.me / qrserver.com — for QR code decoding
- Cloudflare — for hosting, CDN, and edge computing
Cyberscan is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or privacy practices of these third-party services.
6. Intellectual property
The Cyberscan name, design, and original code are the property of the Cyberscan Project. The underlying open-source libraries (zxcvbn, Spark-MD5) remain under their respective licences. You may not reproduce or redistribute the Cyberscan interface or brand without written permission.
7. Changes to the service and these terms
We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by Italian law. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Rome, Italy, unless mandatory consumer protection rules in your country of residence provide otherwise.
